After I had done experiments with tools available in maya itself I took the UV map for the cube into photoshop and applied the scribble texture or a pencil like outline and came out with these.
Great stuff! Your next style mission is to rough your edges up etc - so that the edges of your worlds look hand-drawn and 'thumbnail-ish' too. Onwards! :)
