Rough Storyboard

This is our rough storyboard we created to picture what our final animation would look like. We started to visualize how the camera would move and what are the best angles to show our story from. Now we will be creating a defined story board, with much more detail, which will be used for an animatic.

WWII Toys

During our last tutorial with Alan it was decided that something was missing to really get the story to fit together and this was a toy/prop that our child character could carry around with them. Along with the environments and character being impacted on by the war the prop would too for example, a normal toy plane being decorated as the war developed to become more like the real planes battling overhead.
I have done some research and found out that due to restrictions/availability of resources a lot of childrens' toys in this time were homemade. I have put together an influence map of toy examples that could be considered for our prop.

Disney's Paperman

During our photoshop drop in lesson today Alice and I had a good chat with Photoshop Phil about the direction our concepts were going in. We told him about how we would like a graphic design propaganda style to fit in somehow, being quite 'vintage' in ways. Also that we really like the way black and white has been used in research we have carried out already, contrasting against specific strong colours. Phil pointed us towards Disney's up coming short 'Paperman' which we have been using as inspiration in our paintings since.
